Testimonials
We built our house in 2008. We had a great experience with Matt Peterson. He was honest, understanding, flexible, and made the home buying process smooth. He was always available to answer questions and was able to take our ideas and turn them into a quality home that meet our specific needs. We would highly recommend Eden Custom Homes to anyone.
We just moved into our Eden home last month and couldn’t be more pleased with our choice. When we were shopping for a new home, one thing we were looking for was a house with high-quality finishes, things that give a house the “wow factor.” We certainly found it with our Eden home – the finishes Matt Peterson uses are definitely a step above his competition’s. He likes to say that his standards are other builder’s upgrades, and it isn’t just a meaningless catchphrase; it’s actually true!
Anyone walking through the front door of one of his homes will get an immediate sense of the quality he offers, but there are other observations that come later – you get the feeling that here is a builder who builds homes the way he would want his own to be built. There’s a sense of consistency throughout our home because he didn’t “cheap out” by using lesser-quality materials in lesser-seen rooms. For example, he uses granite countertops and diagonally-laid tile in all of the bathrooms and in the laundry room. So often you see homes where the builder has used granite in the kitchen but a cheaper material in the bathrooms.
We also have the impression that we’ve bought a house built by a thoughtful builder, someone who cares about the minor details that make a difference. These small upgrades likely don’t add much cost to his bottom line, but even so, other builders would shave pennies wherever possible. For example, our deck is screwed together, not nailed, which might have added some cost or extra time; the end result, though, is a rock-solid deck that doesn’t wobble an inch and won’t have nails popping out within a couple of years. Another tiny thing we noticed was that he puts white outlets on light-colored tile and walls, but uses dark brown outlets on those attached to the dark brown cabinets. It helps them to blend in more and gives you the impression that someone actually thought about the little things. His homes are pre-wired for surround sound and central vac; every bedroom has a ceiling fan; the closets have upgraded shelving inside; the staircases have step lights; the basement is flooded with natural light. These small things make living in this home a joy, and that’s without even mentioning the larger and more noticeable features, like the solid red birch floors that add such character and warmth, the staggered kitchen cabinets with crown molding, the rock fireplace that looks so much better than most we’ve seen, and the large master bedroom with the recessed ceiling and the rope lighting we were unsure about when purchasing but have since come to love.
Another benefit to choosing this home was being able to work directly with Matt to take his already-finished home and customize it to better suit our needs by finishing the basement prior to closing. The end result is a home I’m sure we will be very happy with for many years to come.
We built our new home in 2009 using Matt Peterson and Eden Custom Homes as our builder. So many times one hears what a stressful and negative experience it is to build a new home. In our case, it was exactly opposite. We loved it! Matt was fantastic to work with. He was open and honest and provided tremendous guidance in assisting us with many of our decisions. Matt hires only the best workers of the highest quality—we were impressed with their professionalism and accountability for their work. You might have thought they were building the house for themselves! We appreciate Matt’s patience and willingness to answer our questions and his responsiveness to our concerns. We would recommend Matt Peterson and Eden Custom Homes to anyone thinking about building. WE LOVE OUR NEW HOME!
We moved to Urbandale, IA in August 2010. With my career we move every three years and have moved three times in the past ten years. We look for quality homes with beautiful décor, upgrades and features that will easily resell when we move. When we looked at the Eden Custom Home I commented to Matt this has a lot of upgrades he said, “this is a standard home for me.”
Eden Custom Homes builds quality homes and provides an excellent experience. Beautiful wood floors, beautiful wood cabinetry in the kitchen, granite countertop, steel appliances, crown molding throughout the entire house, and a stone fireplace. From the time you walk in the front door to the bathroom you look at the quality of paint, trim and carpet and they make you say over and over, “this is so beautiful.” You walk up beautiful stairs with lights along the wall to the upstairs laundry and bathrooms which have tile floors. The master bedroom has a recessed ceiling with adjustable lighting. In every room there is a central vac connection, ceiling fans with beautiful light fixtures, shelving that is not just a coat rack in every closet and even the deck was built with screws not nails.
Quality, professionalism, accountability, and follow up are key characteristics of Eden Custom Homes. In our neighborhood there are several builders but not one come close to quality and commitment Matt provides in the home, warranty and follow up. When the neighbors get together to talk about our homes, we have great things to say about Matt, others would not recommend their builders.
If you are looking for an honest, flexible, down to earth builder, Eden Custom Homes cares about the customer and the relationship he builds with home buyers is just as important as the home they are building. Anytime we had a question Matt was quick to respond to our emails and phone calls and would be at the house within 24 hours discuss our recommendations.
We love our home and would recommend Eden Custom Homes to anyone.
